Ocean News 7: Is AMOC Slowing Down? HydroPhones for Submarine Hunting, DEEP Underwater Habitats

🌊 Dive into the latest Ocean News with Episode 7 AMOC! 🌊Ocean News AMOC

In this edition, we explore crucial updates from the Marine Science and Oceanographic realms. In the Ocean News AMOC segment; a spotlight shines on the AMOC’s pace, with a recent WHOI study debunking concerns of its slowdown, diverging from prior alarming reports. Additionally, we delve into fascinating topics like DEEP underwater habitats, innovative thermal-powered hydrophones aiding in submarine detection, the advancements of Saronic unmanned surface vehicles, the mysteries of deep-sea creatures, the allure of thermal vents, and a myriad of other captivating discoveries.

The study of the Ocean’s vast Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation or AMOC current is extremely important thus it has become a regular feature on our show. The debate recently is regarding the AMOC and the effect climate change has on it’s pace and ability to move water. The worry is that it will slow down and or collapse and thus could be a tipping point that causes the next glacial period to commence. This recent study from WHOI shows that the AMOC is stable, but the most important information may not have been discovered yet. More data should be collected using the best available technology from within the AMOC, deep under water. D-2 just so happens to provide the solution for the Salinity, Temperature and Depth measurement for the AMOC studies.
